Overview
Cyborg Justice is one of those Final Fight games, you go around bashing pretty much anything you see that moves with your so-called "skill". Not many like or know of this game but it is different from must action/fighting games and not because they call them "cyborgs" instead of "robots."
Gameplay 9/10 You might think me somewhat silly giving this game a 9/10 after you have played it several times but this is the bench mark for all fighting games when it comes to game play. In Cyborg Justice you can do just about anything to your opponent. Carry him up and slam him into the floor, separate his torso and legs, slam the back of your fist when he tries to creep up behind you, rebuild your partner if he gets destroyed, rip the arm off an enemy and switch it with yours so now you have the enemies weapon...the list goes on and on. Whether or not move is successful can also depend on the enemies cyborgs. For example a cyborg with "Heavy" legs will not be able to be thrown when you pick him up.
Not only that but you can customize your cyborg to have different arms, bodies and legs before you start, each component has a different effect on the cyborgs performance. For example the tank legs allow your cyborg to fold and rush the enemy using them, the pneumatic legs allow you to jump twice, and the somersault legs allow you to do a somersault.
Only bad thing is that the cyborgs are somewhat slow and there are no attacks which go from the background to the foreground rather then from left to right. The closest is the jump into the foreground and kicking which damages the opponent in the foreground if you land.
Graphics 3/5 The graphics are not bright nor sharp and hardly any effort has been given to them, it looks more like someone used the same backgrounds for inside the buildings simply altering the colour and some of the patterns. The robots and their design are quite alright and the "stun" effects which create electronic "ripples" around the enemy robots look quite suited like a comic book cartoon. However, some of their weapons like the laser look somewhat silly being used (you'll see what I mean when you play the game).
Sound & music 0/5 Music? What music? The only time you hear music is in the intro (I think...) come to think of it not much of it either. As for the sound, it just does not suit the game. For example, one of the weapons, a rocket hand, sounds like a spring being released rather then a powerful weapon which it is suppose to be. The hits and smashes sound more like hollow clangs of metal then deadly pieces of scrap flying.
Level design 0/5 This is probably one of the games with the worst levels. All you do is to walk around and after a while a missile will fire from the edge of the screen. Then a few robots will walk in or jump in and attempt to destroy you with their "skills." There are 3 levels of this and then you face the boss robot which is exactly the same every time. Once you defeat him it is on to the next area, only difference is the backgrounds. There are some traps like spikes, holes and a gravity thing which stops any cyborgs from moving except for those with heavy legs but it just comes across as annoying since the enemy cyborgs are not intelligent enough to avoid those. Speaking of intelligence, the normal enemy cyborgs have none, all have to do is walk up and down the screen and use your punch every time the enemy jumps from the background to the foreground or vice versa. They just get stunned and damaged somewhat badly, giving you time to evade them and repeat the trick.
Longevity or Replayibility 2.5/5 Although the levels are silly and not worth their while the 2 player "duel" where you get to smash the other player is pretty good considering you can both customize you cyborgs to what you think is best and see who is really the better player. So this will last you a while as you fight it out with your favourite friend soon turned ex-friend after you beat him 50 times in a row.
For: Excellent unique gameplay with alot of moves, able to customize robot, fun in two player duel.
Against: Boring single player levels, bad sound and music, no artificial intelligence whatsoever
