Sega Genesis Rocket Knight 2 Review

Overview

Created by Konami, Rocket Knight is one of Konami's mascots you could say. He may at first seem somewhat similar to Sonic but be warned...he handles totally differently and any Konami fan will know that. This is the sequel to Rocket Knight one (duh!).

Gameplay: 9.5/10
Gameplay for Rocket Knight 2 is better than number one although I initially thought it was impossible for it to get any better. Instead of having to hold down to attack button to charge up like in Rocket Knight 1 the jet pack is charged up
automactically! This frees you up from being unable to attack when charging up. Not only that but since it automactically charges if you are in a large enough area you can even stay in the air constantly!

For those of you who miss the robot fights and mini-games in Rocket Knight one, have no fear for they make a come back in number 2. You have a robot fight as usual plus a robot battle and when you fight one of the last bosses you get to

Some bad points though, the ricochet effect is sometimes more annoying than helpful because you can not control it sometimes ending up in lava or something nasty. There is also a bonus item everytime you collect 10 blue jewels. Unfortunately, most of the time these items are pretty useless usually an apple (to increase life) but otherwise a bomb which hurts you and appears regularly.

Graphics: 5/5
I have to say for rocket knight that the graphics are excellent and much better then the rest save for possibly sonic. No complaints in that department. The animation looks just like a cartoon.

Sound & music: 2.5/5
Unfortunately, I have to same that the songs are alright but not any thing special. The sounds are more annoying then suitable especially when you get hurt and when you die.

Game Design: 3/5
The levels in this game are extremely difficult. I had an extremely difficult time completing it. However, thumbs up for the special levels like the robot duel part. You will however need lightning fast reflexes and a lot of gaming time so be prepared to fail again and again.

Longevity or Replayability: 1/5
This game will last for a long time being so difficult but really, I do not believe you would want to replay it over again so I have to give it a really low score.

For: Good gameplay, easy and improved controls good graphics.

Against: Levels too hard, boring once completed, music & sound average sometimes even annoying.
