Snes - Goof Troop Review

GAMEPLAY 8/10

The objective of this game is simple. You, the player or players are Max or Goofy and your mission is to rescue your next door neighbours Pete and PJ from the pirates who kidnapped them to Spoonerville Island. Throughout your journey you have to fight against pirates, skeletons, frogs, snakes and other enemies with a few confusing puzzles on the way. Not to forget that you have to gather keys to open locked gates. To me an action game like this will keep you busy for a few good hours until frustration kicks in or if you're an expert you will have finished the game.

GRAPHICS 4/5

The vast use of colour creates bright island and pirate ship scenes which makes it seem appealing to me. The characters look very much the same as those on Disney's cartoons they make of Goofy, Max and their friends.

SOUND 3/5

The music for each stage is different which is good because it doesn't create any annoyance or boredom towards the songs. The sound effects can be realistic thuds to little tunes for every item you may collect. However there isn't much of a variety when it comes to the sounds but the theme song will usually keep you going if not store it permanently in you brain.

GAME DESIGN 4/5

The game design is simple where the characters can walk along paths which lead to different scenes e.g. deck of pirate ship or enclosed room inside the castle. Sometimes you may get confused about which direction or room you need to go into to find a key or unlock the door but it's not too difficult to retrace your steps and find yourself in the correct room or place. The background is good with the trees, flowers and other images.

LONGETIVITY OR REPLAYABILITY 3.5/5

Depending on whether you're a beginner or an expert at these types of games it can take you between an hour or less to a few hours. This type of game is probably played over a few days to keep you entertained during that time.You would probably replay this game over a couple of months if you were keen.
